Kristy Lee Cook has survived week 1 of American Idol 2008. This is great news because she is one of my favorites - and it's not just because of her sports model looks. This week she sang Rescue Me - an Aretha Franklin classic. While I still liked her version of the song, I will admit it probably didn't suit Kristy at all. Hopefully in upcoming episodes she'll be able to chose something better suited to here voice. I would hate to see her eliminated so early in the competition.

For those that haven't yet heard, Joanne Borgella and the sexy Amy Davis were eliminated on the girls' side. I must admit I was disappointed to see Amy go. And on the guys side it was Colton Berry and Garrett Haley who left the show.

Kristy Lee Cook has made it to the finals of American Idol.

Kristy Lee Cook is one of my favorite contestants in season seven of American Idol. I have just found out that she made the cut - she's in the top 24! What great news. I hope she goes all the way. Shae has a great voice and she's pretty easy on the eye as well, not that looks are everything, but I think they definitely help on a show like this.

Kristy originally comes from Oregon but apparently resides in Texas now while she chases her dream - music! As you can see from the video below she is the girl next door type. She's into kick boxing and horse riding and is rumored to have lived in a log cabin while in Oregon.

There is plenty of video footage of this young lady floating around right now. Hear is one of the more appealing pieces of video I was able to find. Isn't she spectacular?

Like a number of the other contestants, she's not a true amateur. I read that she was discovered by Britney Spears and even recorded an album a few years ago called Devoted. I have mixed feelings about this. I only just found out about it and up until that point I naively thought she was an undiscovered talent. I guess it doesn't really change anything except maybe my perception of her.

Anyway I wish her well. She seems like a nice girl and would be a deserving American Idol winner. I will try to post more news, photos and video footage of Kristy Lee Cook when I can.
